Class C Driver/Loadbuilder

Hills Flat Lumber is hiring a dependable Class C Driver / Load builder to support our Grass Valley yard and delivery operations. This role blends local deliveries with hands-on lumber/load building and customer service in a fast-paced lumberyard environment. • Safely operate a Class C delivery vehicle for local deliveries in and around Grass Valley/Nevada County.
• Build and stage loads accurately (lumber, sheet goods, building materials) for delivery or customer pickup.
• Load/unload materials using forklifts and other material-handling equipment (training provided as needed).
• Verify materials against tickets; secure loads properly; complete delivery paperwork and obtain signatures when required.
• Provide professional customer service at job sites and in the yard; communicate delays, issues, or shortages to the team.
• Maintain safe work practices, follow all company safety policies, and perform basic vehicle inspections (pre-/post-trip as assigned).
• Help keep the yard, vehicles, and loading areas clean, organized, and hazard-free. Qualifications
• Valid California driver's license (Class C) with a safe driving record.
• Ability to lift/move building materials and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Experience in a lumberyard, building materials, warehouse, or delivery environment preferred.
• Forklift experience preferred (or willingness to be trained/certified).
• Strong attention to detail (accurate load building, ticket verification, and load securement).
• Reliable attendance and punctuality; positive, team-oriented attitude. Work Environment & Physical Requirements
• Work is performed in a lumberyard/warehouse and at customer job sites; exposure to dust, noise, and weather is common.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching; regular lifting of building materials.
• Must be able to safely load/secure materials and work around moving equipment and vehicles. Pay & Benefits

Pay:

$17.00 to $22.00 per hour (DOE)
