Field Service Technician & Class B (or A) Manual Transmission Driver

Field Service Technicians play a very important role at our company because they provide the service we are known for. Every day, the decisions they make and the outcomes they produce have a big impact on the success of our company. We are looking for the best people to be our Field Service Technicians. As a technician, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, calibration, repairs, and installations of electro-mechanical weighing equipment at customer facilities throughout Northern and Central California. We serve every industry that you can think of. Our technicians primarily work outdoors but can also be found inside laboratories or food processing facilities. Our technicians work in confined spaces regularly and from heights sometimes. The equipment we service can be as small as a shoebox, or as large as a 120'x10' silo load-out vehicle scale. Some scale systems are fairly basic while others can be connected to PLCs or other peripheral devices. Our technicians are skilled in multiple areas and must work well as a team to get the job done. Most jobs require 2 technicians and starting off you will always work with a senior technician. Your typical day will begin and end at our shop in Visalia, CA where you will load/unload the equipment and tools needed for the day. The role will also go out of town at times. These trips will last from 1 to 4 nights. Our "test trucks" require a Class B CDL for manual transmission. It's highly recommended that applicants for this position have a Class B (or A) manual transmission license, or be willing to obtain one. No experience with weighing equipment? No, problem! We will teach you the knowledge and skills needed to be successful. If you are either electrically or mechanically inclined, enjoy troubleshooting and solving problems have a willingness to learn and possess a positive attitude, we can provide training specific to the scale industry. Qualifications Over 21 years old (requirement for insurance) High-School Diploma or GED; AA Degree in mechanical, electrical or industrial maintenance or repair (preferred) 1-2 years of directly related work experience on maintenance of mechanical or electrical systems (preferred) Class C license with clean record; Class A/B for manual transmission Ability to read, write and understand the English language Average computer skills (PC/Windows/Office) Enjoy working in small teams in a variety of work locations and environments Available to work variable hours, overtime, and occasional weekends Clean Background and Driving Record Ability to Pass Pre-Employment and Random Drug Screenings Physical Requirements Physically strong, with the ability to lift 50 pound weights above your head - frequent kneeling, squatting, bending, pushing/ pulling Work both indoors and outdoors in all types of industrial businesses with exposure to hot, cold, dirty and confined space environments Daily driving up to a two plus hour radius of Visalia Neat, clean and professional appearance Responsibilities Perform scale system preventative maintenance, installations and repairs Load equipment, tools, parts and PPE needed for execution of scale services Assist with maintaining, stowing and cleaning equipment, vehicles and tools Follow company safety guidelines Maintain communication with Scale Service Technician co-workers and Field Service Manager daily Complete all job related documentation Carry out Overtime, On-Call and Out-of-Town duties as required Behaviors Demonstrate self motivation and positive energy Be organized, detail oriented and accountable Work efficiently with a sense of urgency; stay committed to the task through completion Interact with co-workers and customers in a professional and respectful manner Ability to handle frequent job changes, delays and unexpected events during work day The starting pay range for this position is $26 to $27 per hour. With overtime and double time, Field Service Technicians earn between $52k and $80k per year. There is also a $2000 signing bonus for candidates that have a CDL A or B. This is a full time, non-exempt position with potential for overtime based out of Visalia, California. Daily hours will vary, but technicians work over 40 hours/week.
