OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY P.W.
Gillibrand Logistics, Inc. of CA seeks a qualified and experienced Class A CDL Truck Driver to support sand hauling operations. The incumbent will operate tractor-trailer combinations including pneumatic, flatbed, bottom dump, and maxim sand trailer configurations to transport industrial sand and associated materials from mine sites to production facilities, manufacturing plants, designated customer locations, or transloading facilities. All operations shall be conducted in strict compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and in accordance with Company safety and operational standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct thorough pre
  • and post-trip inspections of all assigned vehicles and trailers, verifying mechanical condition, tire pressure, fluid levels, braking systems, lighting, and required safety equipment in accordance with NHTSA and DOT regulations.
Maintain accurate and contemporaneous records of cargo, mileage, fuel consumption, hours of service, and any incidents or accidents, in full compliance with applicable hours-of-service regulations. Process and safeguard all required shipping documentation, including signed invoices, bills of lading, and delivery receipts; submit completed paperwork to the appropriate personnel upon delivery. Adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local transportation regulations, including those governing vehicle size and weight limits, designated routes, parking restrictions, idling limitations, and mandatory rest periods, as well as all Company policies and procedures. Maneuver the tractor-trailer into loading and unloading positions in coordination with loading crew signals; assist with the loading and unloading of materials using specialized equipment as required; return all equipment and empty skids to designated areas upon completion. Execute all phases of sand hauling operations safely and efficiently, including loader spotting, loading, transport, stockpile dumping, and hopper dumping, in strict compliance with established operational and safety procedures. Maintain consistent and professional communication with dispatchers, supervisors, co-workers, and customers via two-way radio, mobile phone, onboard computer, or GPS device; utilize navigation systems and web-based routing applications as directed. Verify and confirm delivery instructions prior to departure; ensure all delivery requirements are fulfilled in a timely and professional manner; interact courteously and professionally with customer personnel at all delivery and transloading points. Perform routine vehicle and trailer cleaning and minor maintenance; promptly report all defects, damage, or safety concerns to the immediate supervisor; arrange trailers in the shipping yard to facilitate optimum loading patterns; clean trailers as necessary to prevent cross-contamination of materials. Demonstrate awareness of potential hazards associated with assigned work areas and changing site conditions; apply sound judgment and adaptability when responding to unexpected operational circumstances, including adverse weather, traffic, or environmental conditions; adhere to all established procedures for vehicle start-up and shutdown, fueling, dumping, emergency response, and accident reporting. When not operating assigned equipment, assist with maintenance and upkeep of the yard, plant, or office facilities, and support the operation of the industrial sand mine as directed by supervision. Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a minimum of 21 years of age and possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with applicable endorsements (Tanker and/or Doubles, as required by assignment) and a clean driving record. Minimum three (3) years of verifiable experience operating a Class A tractor-trailer combination or comparable commercial vehicle. Must successfully pass pre-employment and ongoing background checks and drug/alcohol testing as mandated by federal and/or state Department of Transportation regulations. Must possess proficient oral and written communication skills in the English language, including the ability to comprehend technical operational and vehicle-related instructions; must be capable of communicating effectively by two-way radio with supervisors and co-workers regarding plant and transport operations. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team; must follow instructions accurately and promptly; must exhibit strong interpersonal skills and consistently interact with customers and Company personnel in a courteous and professional manner.
VEHICLE OPERATIONS AND EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS
The incumbent may be required to operate various tractor-trailer combinations, including pneumatic, flatbed, bottom dump, transfer truck, and maxim sand trailer configurations. Specific requirements by equipment type are as follows: Pneumatic Trailer Operations A valid Class "A" CDL with Tanker Endorsement is required for all pneumatic trailer assignments. Must possess working knowledge of pneumatic systems, which utilize compressed air to discharge materials into storage silos or tanks; must be capable of operating such systems safely and efficiently, including monitoring air pressure and inspecting hose connections to prevent silo or tank overfill. Must load and unload the trailer in accordance with applicable specifications, utilizing hoses, valves, blowers, and related equipment; must be able to tolerate exposure to elevated noise levels inherent to pneumatic system operations. Flatbed Trailer Operations Must demonstrate proficiency in securing cargo through proper tie-down techniques to ensure load stability and appropriate weight distribution across axles. Fall protection equipment may be required; must comply with all applicable fall protection protocols when working at elevation.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory on a regular and ongoing basis, including hard hat, hearing protection, eye protection, safety-toed footwear, dust mask/respirator, protective clothing, and gloves, as conditions require. The incumbent may be required to work in environments subject to extreme temperatures, variable weather conditions, and challenging terrain. Position requires prolonged periods of standing and sitting, manual dexterity, climbing of stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms; must be capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and maneuvering objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
