In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating tractor-trailers and other heavy-duty trucks to transport freight across various routes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong driving record, excellent route management skills, and the ability to handle diverse cargo types, including refrigerated goods, flatbed loads, tankers, and more. Duties Safely operate tractor-trailers with manual transmission across designated routes, adhering strictly to traffic laws and safety regulations. Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment, such as forklifts or roll-off trucks, ensuring cargo integrity and security. Transport various types of cargo, including refrigerated items, flatbed loads, tankers, dump trucks, and freight requiring specialized handling. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks to identify mechanical issues and ensure vehicle safety. Manage route driving efficiently to meet delivery schedules while optimizing fuel consumption and operational costs. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, and cargo details in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Perform routine maintenance checks on trucks and report any repairs needed to ensure vehicle reliability. Load and secure freight properly to prevent damage during transit; unload cargo at delivery points following safety procedures. Follow all safety protocols during loading, unloading, and driving operations to ensure personal safety and that of colleagues. Skills Proven experience in commercial driving with a valid CDL A license; familiarity with manual transmission preferred. Knowledge of different truck types, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks. Strong understanding of load securing techniques and cargo handling procedures. Ability to operate specialized equipment, such as forklifts when necessary for loading or unloading freight. Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record; experience with route driving in diverse environments. Familiarity with DOT regulations related to hours of service, vehicle maintenance, and safety standards. Effective communication skills for coordinating with dispatch teams and clients. Physical ability to load/unload freight manually or using equipment; good organizational skills for managing deliveries efficiently.
