Responsibilities Safely operate a tractor-trailer with manual transmission across designated local routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations. Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks, ensuring cargo integrity and proper handling. Deliver various types of freight, including refrigerated items, flatbed loads, tankers, and other specialized cargo, maintaining accurate delivery documentation. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck to identify mechanical issues or safety concerns before and after each shift. Manage route driving efficiently to meet delivery schedules while optimizing fuel consumption and vehicle maintenance. Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate pickups, deliveries, and any route adjustments needed. Maintain compliance with all DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and company policies during all driving activities. Skills Proven experience in truck driving, especially with Class A commercial licenses handling tractor-trailers. Skilled in operating manual transmission trucks confidently and safely. Experience with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, or similar equipment is highly desirable. Ability to load & unload freight efficiently using forklifts or other loading equipment while following safety protocols. Strong knowledge of route driving techniques for local deliveries with an emphasis on safety and punctuality. Familiarity with freight handling procedures for various cargo types including refrigerated goods and specialized loads like tankers.
