Planting the seeds of hope is something we do with everyone who comes through our doors. The Donations Driver plays a vital role in the day-to-day operations of Talbot House Ministries. Our drivers effectively and efficiently ensure donations are picked-up and received by our Donations department, and serve as Talbot House couriers. In addition, the Donations Driver responsibilities include supporting other in-house departments at Talbot House Ministries as required. This position is part of the Emergency Response Team and is expected to be available on-site during weather-related emergency situations (e.g., tropical storms, hurricanes). In the event of a weather-related emergency, you will report to the Director of Operations for specific instructions. Special circumstances will need to be approved by your immediate supervisor.
Core Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Driving Talbot house Ministries' vehicles in a safe and responsible manner utilizing defensive driving skills in compliance with Florida State laws.
- Ensuring safety is primary to any transportation event undertaken.
- Being familiar with GPS systems and their applications.
- Performing daily safety checks on any vehicle placed in service that day, immediately reporting any significant issues to supervisor. Filing daily checklists with supervisor.
- Recording mileage and other related information relative to any transportation event.
- Advising supervisor if any irregularities are encountered in transportation events as they occur.
- Coordinating residential support as needed to assist with the unloading of incoming donations.
- Efficiently scheduling time and trips to maximize resource effectiveness.
- Reporting all transportation events recorded through day turning them into supervisor at conclusion of daily activities.
- Availably to help as needed with after-hours donations, events, and emergency situations as assigned by supervisor; these activities may not directly be associated with transportation events.
Record these activities in a manner similar to daily transportation event reporting.
Key Performance Indicators:
- Customer satisfaction: number of complaints received from donations partners and/or staff.
- Safety violations: adhere to all safety protocols and safe driving habits.
- Reliability of planning: efficient route planning.
- Compliance with driver checklists: ensure adherence to safety protocols, maintenance requirements, and other operational standards.
- Maintaining ALL vehicles safety, cleanliness and reliability on a weekly basis.
- Efficient task management: task completion rate within reasonable timeframe.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Possess strong communication skills and have ability to effectively interact with donors, other employees and residents.
- Flexibility to adapt to rapidly changing priorities is a must.
- Ability to effectively drive all Talbot House Ministries vehicles.
- Must have a good driving record and have been collision and incident free for last 3 years.
- Ability to work both independently and as a team.
- No texting while driving.
Education and Background:
- Must have a valid FL state driver's license and preferably possess a Class E endorsement.
- Must be 21 years old.
- Possession of a High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of six (6) months transporting individuals preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to remain in stationary position 50-75 percent of the time.
- Ability to observe details at close range, communicate and exchange accurate information and express oneself so others will understand.
- Ability to drive a motor vehicle.
- Ability to lift and move to move and transport items weighing up to 35 pounds.
All positions at Talbot House Ministries require mandatory ongoing training and every employee is required to be available for all scheduled training. In addition, employee attendance is required at all mandatory staff meetings.
