Log Sorting Trainee

Job description The Log Sorting Trainee reports to the Log Yard Heavy Equipment Senior Operator. Responsibilities include but not limited to; following all safety and work procedures; loading and unloading materials in a safe and efficient manner using heavy machinery; assisting in loading the saw line infeed if production deems it necessary; clean industrial equipment and workstations; perform daily inspections of mobile equipment and complete required forms; and other duties assigned.

Main Responsibilities:

Follow safety and work procedures Load and unload materials in a safe and efficient manner using heavy machinery Infeed - using the 988k Caterpillar to unload log trucks and stage material on the infeed deck or storage area Outfeed - using the Liebherr & High Lift to unload logs from a variety of sorted bins into their corresponding inventory location Assisting in loading the saw line infeed if production deems in necessary Clean industrial equipment and workstations Perform daily inspections of heavy equipment and complete required forms General maintenance of equipment Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:

Must be dependable and show ability to take direction. Able to work flexible schedules and long hours. Minimal skills required, however must be able to learn general manufacturing duties. Ability to work outdoors in all temperatures, in loud, high-volume environment. Perform essential functions of job that includes walking, standing, climbing stairs, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time; must be able to sit, stand, push/pull, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, or crawl occasionally Frequent lifting/moving of items that may range in weight up to 50 pounds Regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts Exposed to hot, cold, wet or humid conditions
