Job Description

GFY is seeking a SUE Technician to join our Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) team. This is an entry-level position where you will be responsible for assisting the Lead Locator (crew chief) in all aspects of electronically and physically locating underground utilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Uses ground-penetrating radar (GPR), handheld electromagnetic (EM) locators and other specialized devices including vacuum-excavation equipment to locate underground utilities (communications, electric, water, sewer, gas, etc.) Drives, operates, and maintains vacuum-excavation vehicles Regularly uses a variety of hand and power tools, including but not limited to wrenches, drivers, drills, pneumatic hammers, etc. Assists with Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) daily setups Stocks vacuum excavation trucks and support vehicles with appropriate equipment, supplies, tools, paint, flags, signs, asphalt, concrete, etc. daily Participates in maintaining a safe work environment for all utility crew members
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent Valid driver's license with a clean Motor Vehicle Report Company training will be provided Good verbal and written communications skills and the ability to think critically Ability to travel out of town as needed Ability to work outdoors, sometimes in adverse weather conditions, and overnight as needed Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis Benefits All qualifying employees receive benefits, including health and dental insurance, vision plan, personal time off, paid holidays, professional development including tuition reimbursement and community involvement.
