Job Description
Summary:
The Water Truck Operator is responsible for the preparation, maintenance and operation of the Water Truck to transport water to a job site and assisting with all phases of grading operation.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary function is to fill, operate and drive Water Distributor Truck for shift operations as directed. Prior to daily start of work, perform the following: CDL walk-around inspection of the physical condition of Water Truck for damage, wear or any defect that may affect productivity and/or safety; record results and submit checklist to supervisor. Check/maintain all fuel, oil, water and coolant levels, belts, drive components, alarms, lights and gauges. Fill water reservoir as needed. As assigned, apply water in a smooth, consistent fashion over designated areas. Assist in the maintenance of job site. Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task; properly follow all Company policies and OSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment. Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
Commercial Driver's License (CDL) of at least a rating of "B" with a driving record that meets Company standards and a Tanker Endorsement. Knowledge of grading equipment operation and job tasks. Sufficient mechanical/equipment knowledge to identify and fix minor problems and the ability to effectively communicate with supervisor or mechanic about other equipment issues that require maintenance and repair. Ability to understand and follow instructions; communicate with supervisors, co-workers and the public. Demonstrated pattern of dependability, self-starter traits and responsible work practices. Self-motivated with the ability to quickly learn new procedures and processes.Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, kneel, walk, talk, see, hear, push, pull, climb, bend and stoop. The employee frequently is required to stand, sit (for up to 8 eight hours), walk (occasionally on rough terrain/in varying weather conditions), climb, use manual dexterity to operate tools used in the course of work, hear sufficient to hear conversations in person and via telephone and radio, and vision sufficient for distance sight and to read diagrams, manual reports, rules, regulations, laws and plans. The employee is occasionally required to reach, push and pull with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Physical dexterity may involve stretching, proper placement of legs, and use of arms and hands in repetitive motions. The employee must be able to maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment and the movement of mobile equipment.
