Driver Assistant- Hilo

POSITION OVERVIEW

The driver assistant supports daily activities of the driving team to ensure timely and efficient delivery of food products to clients. This role supports route sales drivers with loading and unloading trucks, organizing products, making deliveries, and finalizing invoices and paperwork. The driver assistant is also a critical support for customer service including merchandising, credit processing, and resolving complaints.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Support delivery functions including but not limited to the following:

• Assist route sales driver with customer deliveries.
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Comply with company policies and regulations regarding warehouse and delivery operations.
• Provide consistent, excellent customer service when making deliveries.
• Load and unload product; average weight of parcels is 50 pounds.
• Unload, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders or invoices. Sort and place materials or items on pallets, racks, shelves, or in bins according to organizational standards.
• Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks safely and efficiently. Complete pre and post trip inspections on vehicle used for deliveries.
• Inspect products for defects and report any quality issues.

Ensure all outgoing shipments meet quality standards and customer specifications.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 2 years of experience in a similar warehouse / distribution role preferred.
• High School Diploma / GED equivalent.
• Familiarity with warehouse management systems and procedures.
• Forklift experience and certification preferred. We will provide certification.
• Must be able to obtain Medical Examiner's Certification compliance with DOT requirements.

Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
