Rockford, IL Job Details Part-time $21.84 - $22.09 an hour 21 hours ago Qualifications Computer operation Customer communication In-person customer service Employee relationship building English Desktop applications Computer skills Full Job Description Job Summary The Truck Driver will safely and efficiently deliver finished goods, products, and materials to customers in a timely and professional manner. Duties/Responsibilities Operates a semi-truck according to applicable state and federal transportation laws. Transports loads safely and in a timely manner over the required route, obeying all traffic laws and observing all safety regulations. Deftly maneuvers truck and trailer into loading and unloading areas; follows loading crew signals. Assists with loading of or loads and unloads goods and materials, using specialized equipment when warranted and following the delivery schedule; unloads empty skids and returns all equipment to designated area. Ensures loaded material matches the information on the bill of landing. Maintains signed invoices, shipping bills of lading, and other required paperwork; delivers documentation to shipping office or other appropriate staff when delivery route is complete. Facilitates routine service on trucks, which may include checking oil, water, gasoline, and air; reports maintenance malfunctions to Shipping Lead. Arranges trailers in shipping yards for optimum loading patterns. The employer may require an employee to perform other duties as assigned on a temporary and infrequent basis. Required Skills/Abilities Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to speak professionally and courteously with customers and staff at delivery points in English. Good verbal and written skills in English. Ability to remain focused and work in a fast-paced and busy environment. Organized with great attention to detail. Ability to manage and work on a computer Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations. Ability to create and maintain cooperative, team building relationships. Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure. Actively listen to instructions, understand them, and ask questions Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide to calculate correct weight for each load. Education and Experiences High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Must hold the required commercial driver's license appropriate for the weight of the vehicle to be operated (Illinois CDL-A or equivalent). Must pass background and drug testing as required by federal and/or state department(s) of transportation regulations.
