Job Description

Observe and listen to machinery operation to detect equipment malfunctions. Manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms on machinery. Maintain farm machinery and notify supervisors when machinery malfunctions. Attach farm implements used in harvesting to tractors. Drive trucks to haul crops, supplies, tools, farm workers, or equipment. Drive and operate farm machinery to harvest. Tow harvesting equipment. Drive Transport harvesting grain from field to grain bins or elevators. Operate grain cart or combine. Perform incidental repairs. Perform routine maintenance and inspection of machinery used in conjunction with harvesting duties. This may include clean and lubricate parts, change oil or other fluids. Load or unload trucks or help others with loading or unloading, using special loading-related equipment or other equipment as necessary. Drive trucks with capacities greater than 3 tons, including tractor-trailer combinations, no more than 25% during the application period, to transport and deliver harvested crops. Properly secure cargo for transport. Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles. Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, or brakes, to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition for daily use. Housing is provided. Reimbursement for transportation and subsistence is also offered. Transportation will be provided at no cost to workers, from employer-provided housing and, if applicable, centralized pick-up points to the places of employment at the beginning of each workday and back at the end of each work day.
