Responsibilities Safely operate tractor-trailers equipped for car hauling across multiple states, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations. Load and unload vehicles efficiently using appropriate equipment and techniques, ensuring vehicle safety during transit. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer, including checking brakes, tires, lights, and load securement. Manage route driving schedules to meet delivery deadlines while optimizing fuel efficiency and safety. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle maintenance, and delivery documentation in compliance with federal regulations. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate pick-up and delivery times, providing updates as needed. Handle special hauling requirements such as refrigerated trailers for temperature-sensitive vehicles or flatbed trailers for oversized loads when necessary. Requirements Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record. Proven experience driving tractor-trailers, especially in long-haul or OTR routes involving car hauling. Knowledge of freight handling procedures such as load & unload operations and securing cargo properly. Familiarity with route driving strategies to maximize efficiency and safety on extended trips. Basic mechanical skills for performing routine truck inspections and minor repairs when necessary.
