Job Description
PIE Management, a local staffing company, is looking for one (1) or two (2) Refuse Collection Operators for up to two months. The position will work up to forty (40) hours per week. The hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The top duties that the candidate may be tasked with are: Operates refuse truck, some with hydraulic arm to move heavy, sometimes frozen carts and trash baskets Operates tablet to navigate routes, verify Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags, register and document completed work and report violations, notes customer accounts Collects refuse from sidewalk receptacles Responds to work order requests for pickup of City refuse, illegal dumping, dead animals and other violations of City code Makes one-way and special route pick-ups of appliances and other bulk items as requested Operates onboard camera to take photographs to document violations of City code and ordinances. Performs snow and ice removal with snowplows on City streets; Operates front-end loader to load salt The candidate may start on a temporary assignment may with yard waste and that involves loading the trucks with any additional yard waste that the buckets may not hold.
COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE OF JOB DUTIES
Required Education and Experience High school diploma (or GED equivalent)- -AND
- At least one (1) years of experience operating large trucks, preferably a refuse collection of similar vehicles
- -OR•Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities Required Licenses or Certifications Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
Other Necessary Qualifications Knowledge of:
Safety standards and precautions related to operating large vehicles on city street and the loading and disposal of refuse and trash Tablet/Electronic Devices Basic troubleshooting of vehicle technology and electronic devices Routine vehicle maintenance Refuse and recycle vehicles Operating procedures at incinerator Skill in: Interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships Performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature Organization and problem solving Customer Service and Teamwork Ability to: Meet schedules and deadlines of the work Understand and carry out oral and written directions Accurately organize and maintain paper documents and electronic files Use onboard camera Maintain professional boundaries Operate large trucks safely in traffic and restrictive spaces Perform routine maintenance on large vehicles Operate hydraulic arms Read maps Use a front-end loader Identify and assess hazardsPay:
