Job Description
The Van Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and courteous non-emergency transportation for individuals to and from medical appointments, Key Opportunities programs, employment sites, and other authorized locations. The driver ensures timely arrivals, maintains accurate documentation, and operates vehicles in compliance with all applicable laws and organizational policies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Safely transport non-emergency medical passengers to and from scheduled appointments, Key Opportunities locations, job sites, and other approved destinations Pick up and drop off passengers at their homes or designated locations according to established schedules Assist passengers with boarding and exiting the vehicle, including individuals with mobility limitations, as needed Maintain accurate records of ridership, mileage, trip logs, and service documentation Conduct daily vehicle inspections and document vehicle condition, reporting any mechanical or safety concerns promptly Ensure vehicles are kept clean, fueled, and in good working order Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and organizational transportation policies Communicate professionally with passengers, staff, caregivers, and supervisors Protect passenger confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies Respond appropriately to emergencies or unexpected situations and follow established procedures Qualifications Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Ability to pass background checks, driving record checks, and drug screening as required Experience driving a bus or van preferred Knowledge of local roads and ability to follow routing schedules Ability to interact respectfully and patiently with diverse populations, including individuals with disabilities or medical needs Basic record-keeping and documentation skills Physical Requirements Ability to sit for extended periods Ability to assist passengers with mobility needs Ability to lift and secure mobility devices when required Work Environment Driving in various weather conditions Frequent interaction with program participants and community members
