Job Description

Progressive Rail Inc. is a short-line freight railroad that provides cost-effective shipping and transloading options to over 300 customers across a wide variety of industries. Our main office is headquartered in Lakeville, MN, with several other owned and operating railway locations across multiple states. Progressive Rail, Inc. is looking to hire a Transload Specialist for our Bloomington, MN location. Hours will either be 6:00 am to 2:00 pm or 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Primary Purpose and Essential Functions:
Load/unload freight from rail to truck and truck to rail by processing and loading order requests, pulling materials, and placing orders in delivery area. Trained in Hazmat, ensuring compliance and safety with Department of Transportation (DOT) Hazardous Material (Hazmat) regulations. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to: Loading and unloading of bulk material freight from rail to truck and truck to rail. Retrieves stock materials to complete customer orders. Building loads for delivery requests. Perform efficient and safe operation of equipment. Operate heavy equipment, including a forklift, skid steer (bobcat), and frontend loader. Maintains quality customer service by following organization standards. Keeps management informed of any delays or discrepancies. Maintains safe and clean work environment in warehouse and yard. Complies with standard operating procedures, rules, and regulations. Maintain accurate inventory counts. Acquires and maintains technical and hazmat knowledge by attending training, provided by the Company, as required by statute. Ability to safely handle hazardous material, including flammable & corrosive products Ability to work independently and cohesively with other team members. May perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications:
Prior industrial forklift experience highly preferred. Ability to operate forklift, skid steer (bobcat), and a frontend loader. Ability to lift up to 85 pounds. Knowledgeable of material handling and warehouse processes Strong attention to detail. Verbal and written communication, computer and keyboarding skills Certified Hazardous Materials Specialists not required but a plus. Ability to transload truck and railcars:
  • Open and close railcar doors
  • Uncable and cable lumber cars
  • Ascend and descend railcars; must be comfortable 10-20 feet off the ground.
