DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Safely operate a tractor trailer in a manner that reduces risk and liabilities. Ensure load weight is in compliance with State and Federal regulations. Perform and properly document pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer to ensure they are in a safe and legal condition. Maintain accurate records of trip details, including mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance reports and hours worked. Communicate effectively with project managers, equipment operators, and other team members to coordinate material transport and delivery schedules in a direct and friendly manner. Always adhere to Emery Sapp & Sons safety policies and procedures. Perform basic maintenance and repairs on the truck and trailer when necessary. Extensive travel may be required. Accurately navigate a tractor trailer using instructions, maps or GPS, to a wide variety of locations both on road and off. Properly wear and safely use PPE. Properly record hours worked using an ELD in compliance with Hours of Service regulations. Documenting equipment pick up and deliveries.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Class A CDL Valid DOT Med Cert with Non-Excepted Interstate self-certification. Minimum of 3 years of experience of hauling heavy Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and best practices for equipment transport. Ability to operate equipment during loading and unloading processes. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Basic mechanical skills for minor truck and trailer maintenance. Willingness to travel to various job sites as needed. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with a high degree of accuracy. Ability to read, understand and navigate using paper and/or digital maps. Ability to sit for long periods of time.
