Job Description

Full Time County Employee Retirement Fund Non-Exempt 16.00-17.50/hr • Four (4) - 10hr shifts (Monday-Thursday) Job Posting 08-2023 Road & Bridge Crew Laborer If you're still enthusiastic about building things, come be part of our team. We're looking for someone who can grow with us, someone who stretches themselves and takes on new responsibilities. The biggest requirements we have are a willingness to learn and to be a part of a team. We'll throw in the part where you get paid to play in the dirt again. The perfect candidate can work long hours operating heavy machinery in extreme outdoor conditions. We hire those who commit to showing up ready to work every day. Job Responsibilities Operate equipment to avoid utility lines, equipment, and other workers Adjust hand-wheels and pedals to control blade and bucket attachments, as well as scrapers and swing booms Coordinate machine actions to move and position loads; learn and follow both hand and audio signals from other crew members and know how to give signals to others Operate a variety of heavy equipment such as graders, trucks, power cranes and shovels to move rocks, dirt, and other materials Operate snowplows and other equipment to remove debris and snow from roads and parking lots; operate loaders to rip asphalt, remove stumps, rough-grade land, bury refuse and perform general cleanup tasks Choose bulldozer blades and other attachments and connect them to tractors using hitches; connect hydraulic hoses, mechanical links, belts and more, including power takeoff shafts, with tractors Conduct daily safety/maintenance inspections of the vehicle/equipment at the end of the shift and report any problems or damage to management immediately. Inspecting vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance. Must practice workplace safety, by complying with all DOT truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, and break periods) as well as in-house company policies and procedures Frequently requires a full range of body motion with intermittent walking, lifting, bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and standing. The associate will be required to be on feet for up to five hours. Frequently exerts maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry objects of at least 50lbs. Occasionally required to use very heavy force of all above mentioned of over 100lbs.
Job Skills and Qualifications Required :
High School Diploma or GED, Preferred but not required : Valid CDL Driver's License. Class A or B with no air brake restrictions. Familiar with FMCRS regulations. OSHA 10-hour course certification.
Pay:
$16-18.00 per hour (pay based on experience) Employee contributed pension plan (CERF) Benefits to include paid time off, holidays, and
Medical Job Type:
Full Time 10 Hour Shifts, Monday - Thursday Must successfully complete pre-employment substance abuse testing and post-employment physical. Will be subject to random substance abuse testing, e-verification, & background check.
