Job Description

Position Summary The ESP/Capillary Spooler is responsible for spooling, banding, handling, and testing electrical power cable used in Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) systems. This position works directly with Field Service Technicians during ESP installs and pulls at customer well sites throughout North Dakota's Bakken region. The role requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, maintain clear and professional communication with field crews and customers, a strong safety mindset, DOT compliance, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work extended hours in demanding oilfield conditions.
  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation to support ESP installs and pulls
  • Travel daily to well sites throughout North Dakota using a company-issued service truck
  • Spool electrical power cable onto reels as tubing is pulled from the well
  • Band electrical cable to tubing during downhole equipment installation
  • Assist with ESP installs, pulls, and related well servicing operations
  • Conduct field testing and inspection of cable strings after retrieval from the well
  • Accurately collect, document, and report test and inspection data to support customer recommendations regarding cable and equipment condition
  • Maintain cable service truck and trailer, including daily pre
  • and post-trip inspections
  • Ensure full compliance with DOT regulations, including logbooks and inspection documentation
  • Complete daily time sheets, job tickets, and required field paperwork
  • Adjust quickly to changing job schedules, locations, and operational priorities
  • Work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require
  • Assist Field Service Technicians and other operations personnel on location as needed
  • Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Responsibilities
  • Perform all work in accordance with company safety policies, procedures, and job safety analyses (JSAs)
  • Support company TRIR reduction goals and North Dakota oilfield safety standards
  • Comply with all environmental regulations and spill prevention requirements
  • Actively participate in required safety meetings, training, and certifications
  • Maintain a clean driving record in accordance with company and insurance requirements
  • Schedule & Rotation
Typical Rotation:
14 days on / 7 days off (rotation may vary based on workload and customer demand)
    Hours:
    10-14 hour shifts common during rotation
      On-Call:
      Required during assigned rotation
        Overtime:
        Frequent and expected during peak operations

        Hourly Pay Range:
        $28.00
        • $38.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
        Overtime Pay:
        Paid in accordance with state and federal law
          Per Diem:
          May be available when applicable

            • Position Requirements
            • High School Diploma or GED required
            • Valid CDL Class A with a clean driving record (required for vehicle operators)
            • 1+ year of ESP or related oilfield experience preferred
            • Ability to read and understand work instructions, safety procedures, and technical documentation
            • Ability to write basic reports and job documentation
            • Basic math skills, including whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
            • Proficiency with basic hand tools and oilfield equipment
            • Basic computer skills, including operation of computerized testing equipment
            • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
            • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
            • Physical & Mental Requirements
            • Ability to stand and work for extended periods
            • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
            • Ability to safely bend, reach, kneel, twist, and grip tools and equipment
            • Manual dexterity and coordination to operate hand and mechanical tools
            • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-demand field environment
            • Ability to manage changing priorities and frequent interruptions
            • Ability to respond to visual and verbal cues
            • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
            • Work Environment Work is performed primarily at customer well sites across North Dakota, including active drilling and production locations.
            Employees should expect exposure to all weather conditions common to the Bakken, including extreme cold, wind, heat, dust, and uneven terrain. Extended hours and physically demanding conditions are typical of this role.
