Job Description

Job description We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Lumberyard Associate to join our team at Valley Building Center. In this hands-on role, you will be the face of our operation—assisting customers, building orders, and keeping the yard running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities Customer Service:
Greet and assist customers, help them locate products
Order Fulfillment:
Pull and assemble customer orders, build safe and stable loads for pickup or delivery, and load/unload trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment.
Stocking & Inventory:
Receive incoming shipments, stock materials in the yard and warehouse, rotate stock, and maintain organized and clean inventory areas.
Yard Maintenance:
Keep the yard clean, safe, and organized, including moving materials, clearing debris, and ensuring proper storage.
Delivery Support:
Assist drivers with loading deliveries and occasionally make local deliveries when needed.
Safety & Compliance:
Follow all safety procedures, wear proper PPE, and help maintain a safe working environment for the entire team.
Requirements:
Previous experience in a lumberyard, building materials store, warehouse, or construction environment is preferred but not required. Ability to lift heavy materials (50+ lbs) repeatedly and work outdoors in all weather conditions. Forklift certification or willingness to become certified. Strong customer service skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude. Basic math skills and ability to read measurements (tape measure). Reliable transportation and good attendance.
