Job Description
Established in 1926, Family Service League is a social services agency transforming lives and communities through mental health, addiction, housing, and essential human services with more than 60 social service programs in over 20 locations.
Family Service League is seeking a part-time Driver for a homeless shelter in Lindenhurst, NY. The Driver transports clients in an agency vehicle to necessary appointments and to meet basic needs. Responsibilities include picking up food donations from other agencies and oversight of vehicle maintenance.•$1,500 Sign-On Bonus!•RESPONSIBILITIESThe Driver will oversee compliance of rules, regulations, and policies of shelter.
Transport clients to DOL, DSS, other necessary appointments and appointments as needed.
Ensures all clients are in in appropriate safety belts or car seats.
Perform daily vehicle safety checks and report any issues to Program Director.
Complete monthly vehicle logs and submit to Program Director.
Ensure vehicles have up to date registration and insurance.
The Driver will maintain routine maintenance of vehicle.
Address any issues of safety in the vehicle & remove any dangerous items.
Set and observe appropriate boundaries with clients; observe client confidentiality and HIPPA protocols.
The Driver will attend staff meetings, individual supervision, and trainings as required.
Collaborate with Security to discuss and resolve client incidents.
Responsible for reading and understanding the Policy and Procedure Manual. Required to read and respond to daily emails.
All other duties as assigned. Attend staff meetings, individual supervision, and trainings as required.
The Advocate will collaborate with Security to discuss and resolve client incidents.

This position is essential to the safe and continuous operation of the program. Essential employees are expected to report to work during inclement weather and other relevant emergency situations to ensure uninterrupted care and support for clients.
All other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of homeless population and DSS policies and regulations.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office, required.
Spanish language fluency preferred.
Valid, clean, New York State Drivers License required.
Must be able to go up and down stairs.

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Experience in Human Services or related field preferred.Knowledge of homeless population and DSS policies and regulations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Sitting and standing for extended periods of time, as well as moderate lifting.Must be able to go up and down stairs.
