Box Truck Driver (Non-CDL)

Have a three day weekend every week! Be home daily! ProTek Recycling is looking to hire a driver and be part of a pickup crew, to perform electronic recycling pickup services from different businesses in and around New York City, and in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and the NY Capital Region while working in 2-3 person crews. This position would require at least three years of professional driving experience with a 16ft box truck or larger. All of our trucks are non-CDL vehicles. Applicants should be capable and confident in their ability to drive 16, 22, and 26 ft trucks in all service areas, including New York City. All pick up crew members are required to speak with customers, building/property managers, (A+ Customer Service), remove electronics from the client's offices, load the truck, strap down the contents, ensure completed documentation, and help with the navigation. Knowledge of upkeep and safety measures is required. An up-to-date DOT Medical Card is also required. Strong candidates are those who can professionally interact with customers and coworkers, think on their feet, handle changes and work in a quick and efficient manner. Preferred candidates are drivers that have experience driving in NYC•Manhattan. Compensation is based upon work experience.

Work schedule:

Majority of work schedule for the Driver will be on runs performing pickups, additional hours available in warehouse loading/unloading.

Service area:

NY (NYC and Capital Region primarily), MA, CT, NJ, & PA NYC runs leave between 5am•5:30am. Mandatory.

Shift schedule:

When not scheduled for pick up routes, drivers will work in the warehouse helping to unload trucks, disassemble equipment and prepare shipments on a 7am to 3pm shift.

Responsibilities:

Operate 16 ft/22ft/26 ft box trucks•automatic transmissions Complete all DOT paper work and pre trip inspections Pre-load trucks with equipment used for pickups Help load and unload products into truck Driving safely and obey all traffic regulations Provide excellent customer service

Requirements:

2 or more years of box truck driving experience DOT Medical examiner's certificate Class D or similar Undergo background check Substance screening before hire and during employment Clean abstract Able to lift, pull, push 75 lbs throughout the work shift Road test before hire (Required for Class D applicants only) 21+ years old

ProTek Recycling is an electronic recycling company based in Watervliet, NY. We offer electronic recycling pick up services to companies in the Capital Region, NYC, MA, NJ, PA, and CT. Once the electronics are brought to the warehouse, we process all the technology to find alternative markets or recycling streams for the different products. Positions within the company are in the transportation industry, & include warehousing and technology fields. ProTek is a small business that started in the Capital Region and continues to grow.
