Job Description

O There are some overnight hauls Overview Yurkovich Industries is seeking a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) A Locomotive Support Truck Driver to join our crew and help keep the rails rolling! Take command of a dynamic fleet dedicated to hauling critical railroad materials—rails, ties, ballast, and more—across a variety of mainline and branch line routes. This is your chance to operate a range of specialized rolling stock support vehicles, including flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks, all essential to railroad operations. As a CDL driver, you'll be the vital link in our supply chain, ensuring timely, safe, and efficient delivery of trackside essentials while upholding the highest standards of safety and customer service. Responsibilities Operate tractor-trailers and other commercial vehicles—such as flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks—on assigned rail-served routes and to various rail yards, depots, and job sites. Load and unload railroad freight, including rail sections, ties, ballast, and maintenance-of-way equipment, using forklifts or manual methods while ensuring cargo integrity and compliance with railroad safety standards. Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, checking brakes, tires, lights, and load securement, and ensure your rig is ready for the long haul down the line. Maintain accurate logs of hours of service, waybills, delivery manifests, and vehicle maintenance in compliance with FRA and DOT regulations. Navigate designated routes efficiently, following all traffic laws, railroad crossing protocols, and company policies to ensure on-time deliveries to rail yards and trackside locations. Communicate clearly with dispatchers, yardmasters, customers, and fellow crew members to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues along the route. Handle a variety of railroad freight, including flatbed loads of rail, tankers with track lubricants, or specialized equipment for maintenance-of-way projects, depending on daily assignments. Skills Valid CDL A license with clean driving record; experience operating manual transmission trucks preferred. Proven truck driving experience with knowledge of route driving and delivery procedures. Familiarity with running several types of trucks such as trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks. Ability to load & unload freight safely using forklifts or manual methods; experience with freight handling is helpful. Strong understanding of safety protocols related to commercial driving and cargo security standards. Excellent communication skills for coordinating with dispatchers and customers effectively.
