Duties Safely operate tractor-trailers with manual transmissions across designated routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations. Transport a variety of freight types including refrigerated goods, flatbed loads, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off containers. Load and unload cargo efficiently using forklift skills when necessary, ensuring proper securing of freight to prevent damage during transit. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety and compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) standards. Plan optimal routes to maximize efficiency while maintaining delivery schedules; communicate any delays or issues promptly. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, freight documentation, and delivery records in compliance with federal regulations. Collaborate with dispatch teams to coordinate pickups and deliveries, ensuring smooth operations from start to finish. Experience Valid CDL A license with clean driving record; experience operating tractor-trailers in various configurations such as flatbed, tanker, refrigerated trailer, or dump truck preferred. Proven truck driving experience with a strong understanding of route driving and load & unload procedures. Familiarity with manual transmission trucks is required; experience with forklift operation is a plus. Knowledge of safety protocols related to freight handling and vehicle maintenance. Ability to perform detailed vehicle inspections and troubleshoot minor issues independently. Prior experience working with different freight types—including refrigerated goods, flatbeds, tankers, or roll-off trucks—is highly desirable.
