Local Class A Driver

Summary:

Join our transportation team as a Short Haul Driver , where you'll safely and efficiently transport product between company facilities, customers, and distribution locations. In this role, you'll operate a tractor-trailer on assigned routes while supporting drop-and-hook and live load/unload operations. You'll be expected to follow all DOT regulations and company policies while maintaining a high level of professionalism as a representative of the Perdue Farms brand. Schedule flexibility is essential, as routes, locations, or customers may change to meet business needs.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Safely maneuver and transport truckloads of product and materials to plants, customers, and distributors as assigned
• Perform drop-and-hook operations and equipment interchanges, including live loading and unloading when required
• Comply with all DOT requirements, including hours of service, electronic logging (ELD), vehicle inspections, load inspections, and load securement
• Operate tractor-trailer equipment in accordance with all federal, state, and local regulations and company safety policies
• Utilize onboard safety features, vehicle tracking systems, and logging tools efficiently and accurately
• Complete and submit all required documentation, including manifests, bills of lading,
• Verify seal integrity and ensure accurate case counts and product condition at pickup and delivery locations
• Transport loads outside of typical routes, schedules, or customer assignments as needed to support operational demands

Required:

Valid Class A CDL license High School diploma or GED Minimum of two (2) years of over-the-road tractor-trailer driving experience (refrigerated trailer experience preferred)

Strong communication and customer service skills

Physical & Work Environment Requirements:

Ability to remain seated for extended periods within DOT regulations Ability to lift and move boxes weighing up to 40 lbs Ability to sleep while another driver operates the vehicle, when applicable Tolerance for vibration, road conditions, fuel and oil exposure, noise, and extreme temperatures (0-100°F) Willingness to travel to customer, distributor, and plant locations, including remote sites
