Job Description

Activate Your Influence is a third party hiring solution partnering with Sensenig Turkey Farm. Who We Are Sensenig Turkey Farm is a family-owned agricultural operation committed to quality, reliability, stewardship, and strong operational execution. With deep roots in turkey farming and food production, we play a vital role in the poultry supply chain by caring for livestock, supporting processing operations, and serving customers with consistency and excellence. Our work is practical and hands-on; we value dependable people who understand agriculture, respect equipment, and take pride in doing the job the right way. Who We're Looking For We are seeking a dependable equipment operator for a local CDL driving position. This role offers variety, handling live haul transportation, feed deliveries, and commodity pickups (such as corn and soybean meal). This is a local haul position with no weekend work 98% of the year, making it ideal for a driver who values being home daily. You must be proficient with manual transmissions and comfortable with early morning starts.
Core Characteristics Natural Operator:
You have an innate "feel" for machinery and equipment; you handle trucks and trailers with care and precision.
Dependable and Steady:
Shows up for early morning routes (2:30 AM - 4:00 AM) and follows through on assigned tasks without constant oversight.
Safety-Minded:
Prioritizes safe driving in rural and farm environments and handles live animals with the necessary care and calm.
Mechanically Aware:
Takes ownership of the equipment (Peterbilt/Freightliner daycabs) and notices maintenance needs before they become problems.
Primary Responsibilities Multi-Faceted Local Transportation:
Live Haul:
Transport turkeys from farms to the plant, typically starting between 2:30 AM and 4:00 AM (Monday-Thursday) to meet 6:00 AM plant starts.
Feed & Commodities:
Once live hauls are complete, switch to delivering feed or picking up commodities like corn, soybeans, or minerals.
Thanksgiving Holiday Schedule:
While we generally do not expect weekend work, the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving are our busiest time. During the holiday peak, we slaughter on Saturdays. This requires the driver to perform Live Haul either Friday evening or Saturday morning; the remainder of the day is then off. For the one or two Saturdays immediately preceding Thanksgiving, there may be additional reefer (refrigerated) deliveries to assist with the holiday demand.
Equipment Operation:
Safely operate a fleet of manual transmission daycabs and various trailers (hopper bottoms, reefers, live haul, and flatbeds).
Auger Unloading:
Line up feed trucks with bins and operate auger systems to unload feed effectively.
Inspections:
Complete thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including climbing on top of trucks to verify feed pockets are empty.
Qualifications Requirements:
Active CDL and a clean driving record.
Manual Transmission Proficiency:
Must be able to operate manual transmissions (no automatics in the fleet). Ability to pass a drug screen and background check. Willingness to work 10-12 hour days and maintain a flexible "do-what-it-takes" mindset.
Experience:
No strict minimum years of experience required; we value natural equipment handling ability over a specific timeframe. Previous experience in agricultural driving (feed, grain, or livestock) is a significant plus. Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions This role requires working in farm and processing environments in various weather conditions. Physical demands include climbing in and out of daycabs, climbing on top of trucks/tanks to inspect pockets, and walking on uneven surfaces.
Note:
The driver is not required to hand-load turkeys; growers perform the physical loading.
What We Offer Competitive Pay:
$30.00 - $35.00 per hour, based on experience.
Overtime:
Time-and-a-half pay for all hours worked over 40 per week.
Local Routes:
Home every day with no weekend work (except during the Thanksgiving holiday season as noted above).
Paid Time Off:
5 days of PTO to start, with additional days accruing based on length of service.
Future Benefits:
Health insurance and retirement options are currently under consideration. How to Apply Interested candidates should submit a resume or work history summary outlining their experience with manual transmissions and agricultural driving skills.
