Must HAVE a CURRENT Pilot Car Certification Responsibilities Key Duties of a Pilot Car Escort Driver Route guidance: Drive ahead or behind the oversized load to warn of upcoming hazards, sharp turns, or narrow roads.

Traffic control:

Alert other motorists to the presence of a large, slow-moving vehicle and help prevent accidents.

Communication:

Maintain constant radio contact with the truck driver and other pilots to relay information about road conditions, traffic, or obstacles.

Safety checks:
