Job Description

Classification :
Full Time; Non-exempt hourly
Hours:
Monday through Friday as needed; Evening and Weekend hours as needed
Supervisor :
BWROC Center Manager, and Transportation supervisor.
Overview :
The Transporter will drive the BWROC transport van to transport participants to and from recovery events, meetings, and other recovery related needs.
Responsibilities :
  • Drives agency transport van to transport BWROC participants to and from recovery related events and meetings.
  • Picks up participants at prearranged locations, or high traffic areas.
  • Assists participants with entering and exiting vehicles.
  • Ensures participants reach their destinations safely and on time.
  • Observes safety regulations and state laws regarding vehicle operation; ensures participants also follow applicable safety regulations.
  • Communicates with management by phone to receive requests for transport service.
  • Ensures vehicle equipment such as brakes, lights, windshield wipers, etc., is maintained and operating properly.
  • Reports vehicle problems to management.
  • Submits accident reports when needed.
  • Conducts routine maintenance on vehicles including adding gasoline, oil, and water and checking tire pressure; ensures more specialized maintenance and repairs are performed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Required
  • A high school diploma/G.E.D.
  • Minimum 6 months in recovery.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
  • Applicable state licensing and certification required.
  • Excellent driving skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Thorough understanding of traffic regulations, road signs, and routes.
  • Knowledge of the substance use disorder treatment and recovery landscape; and firm commitment to the recovery community.

Environment:
Transport Van, Standard office, and community settings.
Physical:
typically drive transport van, office spaces, healthcare establishments, and community buildings. Physically able to drive a vehicle for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to lift and move luggage weighing up to 50 pounds.
Vision:
See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents.
Hearing:
Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction
