Position Overview:
CDL Dump Truck drivers work on a crew or out of a yard, delivering equipment and materials to and from job sites as well as working on job sites. Performs duties as directed by foreman while operating any or all of the following equipment: backhoe, excavator, vibratory or static plows, trenches, or directional bore machines in the installation, removal, or maintenance of underground utilities and pipe installation.
Essential Functions:
Ensure correct cargo makes it safely to its destination on schedule, and appropriate paperwork is completed. Assisting crews by working on the job site performing various labor-intensive tasks such as hand digging, operating, fusion (depending on qualifications) and clean-up A skilled worker who possesses the required knowledge, skill, and physical ability to perform construction and maintenance duties related to the natural gas industry Ability to perform the essential physical functions of the job and operate within a short time frame as needed Must have personal characteristics suitable for making contact with customers and the public Must work well with others Must follow all safety policies and safety procedures per Southeast Connections, LLC standards, and the utility customer Load material or equipment for transport from the show-up yard to the job site and secure as appropriate the work site, equipment, and materials at the end of each shift to ensure public safety and the safety of equipment and materials
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED Minimum of 3 years of prior operating experience and knowledge of commercial driving regulations with the ability to maneuver a truck Valid Class A CDL driver's license with combination vehicle and air brake endorsement Clean driving record and current medical card Strong work ethic and willingness to work in a team environment Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations, such as traffic and weather conditions Selected candidates must pass a background check and drug screening.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Able to walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds frequently. Able to bend, squat, stand and twist in awkward positions for extended periods. Able to use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support. Able and willing to work long hours including day, night, and weekend shifts as needed, and work outside of normal hours. Able to travel to project sites that are typically within a 4-hour radius of the home office. Able to work in outside environments being subjected to extreme weather, noise, vibrations, and job hazards.
