Job Description
Job Summary Join our dynamic team as a Transload Operator, where you will play a vital role in efficiently transferring cargo between different modes of transportation, such as trucks and railcars. This energetic position requires a proactive approach to ensure safe, accurate, and timely handling of freight. You will operate heavy equipment, perform mechanical inspections, and support the seamless movement of goods across our facilities. We are hiring a skilled, safety-focused Transload Operator to support our expanding operations. You will be responsible for the safe loading and unloading of hazardous materials between railcars, tanker trucks, and large above-ground storage tanks. This is a hands-on, outdoor industrial role where strict compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards is critical.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Safely load and unload hazmat materials from railcars, trucks, and above-ground storage tanks using pumps, valves, hoses, conveyors, and related equipment Perform pre- and post-transfer inspections of railcars, trucks, tanks, and equipment; document all activities accurately Follow all operating procedures, safety protocols, and hazmat regulations (DOT, EPA, FRA, OSHA, etc.) Conduct routine equipment checks, minor maintenance, and housekeeping to maintain a clean, safe work environment Wear required PPE, including respirators when necessary; participate in safety meetings and training Communicate effectively with drivers, rail crews, supervisors, and team members Complete required paperwork, inventory logs, and electronic records Assist with general terminal operations including railcar spotting/moving (as trained) and emergency response readinessREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Certifications (all must be current): TWIC Card — valid and current (required for site access)HAZWOPER
40-Hour Certification OSHA 10 or 30Hour General Industry Certification Experience & Skills:
Prior experience in a terminal, rail, chemical, or bulk liquid transload environment Hands-on experience loading/unloading hazmat railcars, tanker trucks, and large above-ground storage tanks Knowledge of DOT hazmat regulations and railcar handling best practices Forklift certification or demonstrated experience with industrial equipment (pumps, mobile conveyors, etc.) Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills Familiarity with inventory management systems orMicrosoft Office Education & Licensing:
High School Diploma or GED required Valid U.S. Driver's License (clean driving record preferred)Physical Requirements:
Lift/carry up to 50 lbs regularly Climb ladders/stairs on railcars and tanks (heights up to 40 ft) Work in confined spaces if required Perform duties outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain) Pass a respirator fit test and wear a respirator for extended periods when requiredOther Requirements:
Must pass pre-employment drug screen, background check, and physical exam Willingness to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed Strong safety mindset with close attention to detail and ability to follow procedures exactlyWHAT WE OFFER
