LOCATION - RIO GRANDE VALLEY, TEXAS SUMMARY OF POSITION
Truck Driver I will be responsible for the safe driving of any agency vehicle including but not limited to trailers. Responsible for loading, unloading, and securing all appropriate material.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Load, unload, and secure all appropriate material on an assigned vehicle in a safe manner. Transport specified load to and from assigned/established route locations. Ensure all assets are safeguarded before, during, and after transfer. Inspect the truck and any associated equipment daily and report any issues to the supervisor. Perform minor emergency roadside repairs including but not limited to adding fluids, changing fuses, installing light bulbs, etc. that can be taken care of in-house. Ensure all manifests are completed, accurate, and submitted to the appropriate department (or manager). Ensure all operations are followed by agency policies and procedures. Responsible for complying with all state and federal regulations that govern commercial vehicles at all times. Adhere to and enforce all safety and loss prevention procedures to prevent injury to others or him/herself and damage to any property, equipment, and/or inventory. Embrace the core values of the agency in the spirit in which the agency operates at work and in the community. Contribute to the fulfillment of department and agency objectives and goals. Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS 25
years of age or older. Possess a valid Driver License with a clean driving record. Ability to become forklift certified within 30 days. Pass pre-employment criminal background check and Drug/Alcohol screen Working knowledge of all state and federal regulations that govern large moving vehicles Ability to use hand/power tools Ability to read, write and communicate effectively Ability to work well with others in a respectful and collaborative work environment Ability to work a flexible schedule
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent Previous truck driving experience High degree of customer service skills Bilingual
PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS
Ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, stoop, bend, and crouch for extended periods Weather conditions - variable - including extreme heat and cold, may work outside for extended periods Ability to work in a humid and/or dusty environment Ability to lift more than 50 pounds Ability to lift more than 100 pounds with assistance
