Truck Driver

1.0 DUTIES

AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for the pick-up and delivery of raw material, finished goods or supplies, to or from suppliers, outside processors, different corporate locations and or customers. Material may be pipe, bar, forgings, shop supplies, or finished products, in various weights and configurations.

Specific responsibilities may include:

• Drivers must be qualified to operate company forklifts and/or overhead cranes in the movement of materials.
• Knowledge of the weight capacity of assigned vehicles is mandatory, in order not to exceed rated capacity.
• Drivers must have valid Texas Commercial Driving License and reasonably clean driving records.
• Knowledge of location of main suppliers is required.
• Daily maintenance of assigned vehicle is the responsibility of each driver.
• In the event that a major operating deficiency is found, the problem is to be immediately reported to the Shipping Supervisor and the vehicle is not to be used until the problem is resolved.
• Drivers shall be responsible for the maintenance of tie-down equipment, such as chains, boomers and the headache rack and shall insure that these are present and in good repair.
• Operate an 18‑wheeler flatbed truck in compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards.
• Secure loads using chains, binders, straps, and other approved equipment.
• Conduct thorough pre‑trip, in‑route, and post‑trip inspections of the truck and trailer.
• Transport freight to intercompany locations on schedule while maintaining professional communication.
• Manage paperwork including bills of lading, delivery receipts.
• Safely navigate various road, weather, and traffic conditions.
• Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of assigned equipment.
• Follow all company policies, safety protocols, and industry best practices.
• Other duties as assigned.

2.0 REQUIREMENTS 2.1 EDUCATION

AND TRAINING

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid CDL‑A license with a clean driving record. 2.2 EXPERIENCE
• Experience as a Driver is preferable, but not mandatory.
• Minimum 2-3 years of flatbed or heavy‑haul experience required.
• Knowledge of load securement techniques and DOT cargo‑securement rules.

• Must have strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong communication skills and professional customer service attitude.

2.4 PHYSICAL

AND SAFETY

• Sitting, bending, standing, walking, 8-10 hours per day.
• Must pass DOT physical, drug screening, and background checks.
• Ability to lift, pull, and handle chains, and securement gear.
• Local routes 150mile radius.
• Exposure to outdoor weather while securing loads.
• Extended periods of driving and physical labor during load securement.
• Must be able to exert 20 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 10 lbs. of force frequently and/or constantly move objects weight a negligible amount. Must be able to lift a 10 lb. object vertically 3 foot high.
• Must comply with any safety or PPE requirements.
• Exposure to production environment. 3.0 OTHER

Job Type:

Full-time Pay:

$24.00 - $27.00 per hour
