Job Description

This job performs administrative work and must be knowledgeable of Commercial Driver's License Description-Office(CDL) policies and procedures to foster a positive learning environment for students and a favorable working environment for the CE department. The incumbent supports the implementation of CDL programs and processes.

High school diploma or GED required . Six years wage earning clerical experience or certification / successful completion of relevant trade school (30 college credits) and two years wage earning clerical experience or Associates Degree and one year wage earning clerical experience is required . A copy of certificates and/or college transcripts is required with application for evaluation purposes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
  • Demonstrated fundamental grammar, punctuation, spelling, sentence structure, and filing skills.
  • Demonstrated data entry and word processing skills with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Ability to work with sensitive information and money, including social security and credit card information.
  • Ability to interact effectively with the public, students, faculty, and college personnel.
  • Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and multitask.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Works with the Registrar's office, generating and tracking Certification and Grade Rolls, entering grades for funded classes, and submitting documents for quarterly state reports.
  • Keep up with background, drug, and any other documentation related to the CDL program.
  • Uses Informer to correct mistakes in the database found during state reporting, generating paperwork for auditor's exceptions.
  • Changes class maximums and minimums in the database after the certification date to reflect accurate student counts and class cancellations.
  • Also performs cleanup requested by Registrar's office.
  • Writes and submits weekly press release, and tracks marketing feedback from student evaluations.
  • Serves as the student point of contact for the CDL program, coordinating class and orientation schedules, and working with the webmaster and online sites to update information as needed.
  • Monitor room assignments to ensure that classes are open and available for students.
  • Maintain a key log for all instructors who have room keys.
  • Work hours may change based on business need.
  • Performs other related duties as required or approved by the director.
