Position Summary This position performs duties in the operation of the NTMWD Landfills. The position is responsible for the operation of the transfer trailer tipper and other miscellaneous duties in the landfill. Works under general supervision. Job Responsibilities Operates and monitors performance of the transfer trailer tipper within the landfill. Responsible for operating and unloading citizen convenience center transport trailers at landfill. Performs routine preventive maintenance and minor repairs on equipment operated with minimal supervision. Verifies that delivered waste is in accordance with applicable rules and regulations. Monitors certain process operations as directed by supervisor. Responsible for housekeeping of assigned units including transport tractor-trailers, site pickup truck, and water truck. Responsible for observing safe work practices. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Job Requirements Education & Experience:
Must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. Minimum of two years of experience in operation of heavy construction type equipment, driver of over the road tractor-trailer, or training such as is offered by vocational technical schools or privately operated, independent vocational school or equivalent experience. Maintain a valid Texas Driver's License.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Requires sustained mental attention regarding correct process adjustments necessary for proper Landfill maintenance. Spatial discrimination; eye-hand-foot coordination; manual dexterity; ability to follow written and oral instructions; generally good physical condition. Environmental and Physical Working Conditions Driving a District vehicle for business will be required. Employees required to drive as part of their job duties are responsible for maintaining a current, valid, and vehicle - appropriate driver' s license of their resident state. This position requires moderate physical exertion with daily lifting requirements up to 25 pounds. Working conditions include exposure to weather and odor. Subject to shift work.
