Job Description
Yard Switcher / Warehouse Support (Part-Time / On-Call)Position Overview We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Yard Switcher to join our team. This is a part-time position scheduled for approximately 20-30 hours per week, with the potential for up to 40 hours per week based on business needs. This role may also serve as an on-call position when additional coverage is required. The primary responsibility is moving trailers within the yard to support warehouse and shipping operations. Drivers may occasionally operate a day cab for local runs when needed. When not performing yard moves or driving duties, team members will assist with warehouse operations. Key Responsibilities Perform yard switching and trailer spotting to support warehouse operations Safely operate a yard tractor to move trailers within the facility Occasionally complete local runs using a day cab as needed Assist with warehouse tasks when not operating equipment or driving Follow all company safety procedures and yard protocols Maintain clear communication with warehouse and transportation teams Preferred Qualifications Previous yard switcher or yard driver experience preferred Forklift experience preferred due to warehouse support responsibilities Strong commitment to safety and attention to detail Ability to work in a fast-paced yard and warehouse environment Flexibility to work occasional Saturdays and additional hours as business needs require What We Offer Competitive starting pay of $25.00 per hour Part-time schedule averaging 20-30 hours per week Opportunity to work up to 40 hours per week when operational needs require Overtime pay for eligible hours and Saturday shifts Consistent weekday scheduling with additional hours available based on workload PLA and its Family of Companies is an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
