Job Description

Schedule:
Regional Texas lanes, typically 1 to 3 nights out depending on destination. This is not a home-daily position. Truckman Transport is hiring experienced CDL-A flatbed drivers with a Hazmat endorsement for a major battery energy storage project. You will haul overweight battery containers on tri-axle step deck trailers from the Port of Houston to project sites across Texas, from the Rio Grande Valley to the Panhandle and West Texas. Steady, high-volume project freight with consistent, dedicated lanes. This is real flatbed work. The loads are Class 9 hazmat and are secured with a prescribed chain, binder, and strap pattern on every trip. If you take pride in securing a heavy load right and you hold a Hazmat endorsement, we want to talk to you. Responsibilities Haul Class 9 hazmat battery containers on tri-axle step deck trailers from the Port of Houston to project sites statewide. Secure every load to the manufacturer's specification using chains, binders, and straps. This is hands-on, physically demanding securement work, not drop-and-hook. Verify all tie-down points before every departure, and re-check securement en route as required. Carry and manage hazmat shipping papers and follow all Class 9 placarding and handling rules. Operate within overweight permit limits and stay on permitted routes. Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure safety and compliance. Follow all DOT, FMCSA, state, and local regulations. Use the dispatch app for assignments and status updates. Maintain accurate ELD logs and records of deliveries, mileage, and fuel. Communicate clearly with dispatch on schedules, delays, or issues. Keep equipment clean and safe and report maintenance needs promptly. Qualifications Valid Class A CDL. Hazmat (H) endorsement required, or ability to obtain before start date. TWIC card required, or ability to obtain (loads originate at the Port of Houston). Minimum 3 years commercial driving experience. Flatbed or step deck securement experience strongly preferred. Physically able to perform heavy load securement, including climbing on the deck and throwing and tensioning chains and straps. Willing and able to be out 1 to 3 nights at a time. Clean driving record (no more than 3 moving violations in the past 3 years). Current DOT physical/medical certificate. Must pass a DOT drug screen and a TSA hazmat background check. Must be able to report to Pasadena, TX 77507. Automatic Disqualifiers DUI/DWI in the past 5 years. More than 2 moving violations. Vehicular criminal convictions. Failed drug or alcohol test. Any conviction or status that disqualifies a TSA hazmat background check. Preferred Qualifications Flatbed, step deck, or heavy haul experience. Oversize/overweight permitted load experience. Hazmat hauling experience. Familiarity with Port of Houston operations.
What We Offer Competitive pay:
[$30.00]/hour straight time, plus [per diem] for nights out. Weekly performance bonus potential on top of base pay. $200 safety bonus for every clean inspection. $500 referral bonus (paid after 90 days).
