Heavy Equipment Training Instructor Company:
South Texas Initiatives (STI) Position Summary STI is seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Heavy Equipment Training Instructor to deliver classroom and hands-on training to students pursuing careers in heavy equipment operation. The ideal candidate will have broad experience with various types of heavy equipment, possess multiple industry certifications (NCCER preferred), and demonstrate a commitment to student success and workplace safety. Key Responsibilities Instruct students in the safe operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of heavy equipment (e.g., excavators, loaders, bulldozers, backhoes, graders, forklifts). Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans, presentations, and practical exercises that align with NCCER standards and STI curriculum. Conduct safety briefings and ensure all training activities comply with OSHA and other regulatory requirements. Evaluate student performance through practical assessments, written tests, and competency checklists. Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and certifications. Ensure proper care and maintenance of training equipment and tools. Provide mentorship and guidance to students preparing for industry certification exams. Preferred Qualifications NCCER Heavy Equipment Operations Instructor Certification (preferred). OSHA 30 certification (required or ability to obtain prior to start date). Multiple equipment-specific certifications (e.g., forklift, crane, loader, excavator) strongly preferred. Prior teaching or training experience (preferred but not required). Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse student populations. South Texas Initiatives will provide instructor guidance. Must have appropriate licenses.
