Job Description
Job Profile:
Hotshot CDL Driver Position Overview We are seeking a dependable and skilled Hotshot CDL Driver to transport construction equipment, tools, and materials to and from job sites using pickup trucks and gooseneck trailers or other hotshot rigs. This role requires a driver with strong safety practices, excellent time management, and experience hauling both standard and oversized loads. The Hotshot Driver will play a key role in ensuring equipment arrives on time to keep projects moving efficiently.Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a hotshot truck and goose-neck trailer to transport construction equipment, machinery, and materials.
- Load, secure, and unload equipment using proper tie-down methods, chains, and binders.
- Plan routes to meet project deadlines while adhering to DOT regulations and weight restrictions.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, driver logs, and fuel receipts.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicle and trailer.
- Communicate with dispatchers, project managers, and job site supervisors to coordinate deliveries.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, company policies, and federal/state hauling regulations.
- Perform minor vehicle and trailer maintenance as needed to keep equipment road-ready.
Qualifications:
- Valid CDL Class A license with clean driving record.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in hotshot or commercial hauling (preferably with construction equipment).
- Familiarity with loading and securing skid steers, mini-excavators, small dozers, and similar equipment.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, hours-of-service, and oversize hauling permits.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends when needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and handle heavy chains, straps, and binders.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to climb onto trailers and equipment for securement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with oversize/overweight permits.
- Mechanical aptitude for truck/trailer troubleshooting.
- TWIC card or site access certifications.
