Load and unload cargo with care, ensuring proper handling of freight including perishable goods in refrigerated trailers or heavy equipment on flatbeds. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and load securement. Plan efficient routes to optimize delivery times while complying with all traffic laws and safety regulations. Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage logs, fuel consumption, and vehicle maintenance reports. Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding delivery status or any issues encountered during routes. Adhere to all federal, state, and local transportation laws and company policies to ensure safe operations at all times. Requirements Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with endorsements suitable for operating tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or refrigerated trailers. Proven experience in truck driving with a focus on freight delivery; previous delivery driver experience is highly valued. Proficiency in driving manual transmission vehicles; experience with automatic transmissions is a plus. Ability to operate specialized equipment such as forklifts or dump trucks when required for loading or unloading cargo. Knowledge of safety procedures related to freight handling including securing loads on flatbeds or roll-off trucks. Strong understanding of route planning and navigation tools to ensure timely deliveries.
