Synopsis WildLands, Inc., an Eastern Washington based habitat restoration company specializing in native plants, is seeking a highly motivated, full-time, Equipment Operator/CDL Driver to join our team. WLI is based out of Richland Washington, our work primarily takes place in remote locations throughout Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. The Equipment Operator/CDL Driver position will assist in all facets of restoration activities, including but not limited to: operating heavy equipment (excavators, tractors, skidsteers, etc.); mobilizing equipment, tools, supplies and materials (pick-up trucks and trailers, and/or semi-trucks and trailers), coordinating with WLI project managers and clients; and planting native plants and other related restoration tasks. On the job training is available for all power tools and equipment, although experience operating heavy equipment and CDL Drivers License is preferred. Responsibilities and Duties Assist with all aspects of restoration activities. Operate various types of heavy equipment, including excavators, tractors and skidsteers. Inspect and maintain equipment in good working order. Coordinate with supervisor's, management and clients to meet project goals, objectives, and schedules. Track daily production and material use. Work as part of a team and take direction. Perform manual labor duties when not operating. Mobilize equipment, tools, supplies and materials using pick-up trucks/trailers, and/or semi-trucks/trailers. Assist with equipment loading and unloading. Assist with material loading and organization. Maintain and care for company equipment, tools and vehicles. Must be able to travel (company provided transportation). Must have clean driving record and ability to drive company vehicles. Experience and Education Habitat restoration, construction, landscape construction and/or agricultural related experience preferred. All education levels encouraged to apply; no formal education necessary. Bachelor's degree in environmental science, biology, or ecology is an asset but not required. Qualifications Valid driver's license and clean driving record. Driving record report will be run prior to interview, with applicant's consent. Class A CDL preferred but not required, or have the ability and willingness to obtain company-sponsored CDL license. Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team. A desire to work outside, and an appreciation for the natural world. Organizational skills. Ability to lift 50 pounds Must be physically able and willing to work in varying terrain (including uneven surfaces and steep slopes) and various weather conditions. Ability to work in remote locations without cell service. Ability to travel for work. Knowledge of native plants preferred. Knowledge of invasive/noxious plants preferred. Planting experience preferred. Work Schedule and Benefits Typically, 40 hours per week. Season dependent, 50-60 hours per week. Daily start times change with the seasons. Some weekend work is required during the Spring and Fall seasons. Seasonal flexibility of schedule. Winter and summer months can be slow. Travel work is season dependent. Typically, weekly travel is required more than 50% of the year. Some travel required during Spring and Summer, weekly travel required in Fall/Early Winter.
