Help Keep Florida's Roadways Safe & Beautiful We're looking for dependable, self-motivated individuals to join our team as a Highway Debris Removal Technicians supporting the Florida Turnpike system. In this role, you'll drive a company pickup truck along major roadways, highway rights-of-way, shoulders, ramps, and underpasses to identify and remove large debris before it becomes a hazard for motorists or our maintenance crews. You'll be removing larger items that have fallen from vehicles or been left along the roadway, including: Tires and tire debris Boxes and cargo materials Televisions and household items Vehicle parts and bumpers Large tree limbs and branches Construction materials Other roadway hazards Your work plays a critical role in keeping Florida's highways clean, safe, and ready for our mowing and maintenance crews. Removing debris before mowing operations helps prevent equipment damage, protects employees, and keeps our roadways looking their best. On-Call Emergency Response (Required) This position includes a mandatory on-call rotation approximately 1-2 weeks per month.
During your assigned rotation:
You'll take a company pickup truck home. You'll be on-call after your normal workday and must remain available to respond to emergencies at any time. If called out, you'll report to traffic accidents and emergency incidents on the Turnpike. You'll work alongside law enforcement, fire rescue, and other first responders to help safely close, merge, and maintain traffic lanes until the incident is cleared. All call-out hours are paid at overtime rates. No prior experience with traffic control is required. We provide and pay for all required Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) training and certifications.
