What You Will Do:
Install, maintain, and repair traffic signals, ITS equipment, highway lighting systems, and related electrical components; perform troubleshooting, inspections, and adjustments to ensure safe operation. Operate state vehicles, use tools, and repair equipment; perform utility locating, set up work‑zone traffic control, sign installation and maintenance, vegetation trimming, and general field maintenance tasks. Use computers and mobile devices to document work, complete inspections, update asset inventories, track materials, and maintain records using systems such as EIMS, ArcGIS, and other software. Conduct inspections of traffic signals and electrical devices under construction, assist with final acceptance checks, ensure contractor compliance with standards and plans, and communicate with the public and school officials during repairs or maintenance.

The selection process for this position will include a structured interview. Candidate responses to the interview questions will be scored and the selection will be made in accordance with the

Contract. All bargaining unit and exempt new hires to ODOT must serve a one-year probationary period. This position is overtime eligible per FLSA Standards. If this position is filled internally, the wage rate will be determined in accordance with the contract. Valid Driver's License required. Must obtain & maintain Class B Commercial Driver's License without airbrake restriction regulated by Section 4506 of Ohio Revised Code within 12 months of entry into position.

Exposed to electrical hazards; work outside & exposed to inclement weather (e.g., temperature extremes, ice, snow, rain), rough terrain, dust, dirt, fumes & noise; may be exposed to poisonous plants, insects, rodents, & snakes; may be exposed to moving traffic & motoring public; may be exposed to unpleasant surroundings (e.g., sewage, confined space); may be on call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week; may require overnight travel; may be required to work at heights up to 300 feet above ground/water.
