Signal Technician Supervisor Summary:
Under basic supervision, installs, maintains, and repairs traffic signals to assure proper technical functions and allow for safe and effective traffic flow across the city.
Essential Functions :
Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Inspects, maintains, installs, and repairs traffic signal hardware; replaces components as needed; follows all safety rules, regulations, and Public Works Department (PWD) policies for traffic control on the job site. Maintains and operates PWD vehicles and equipment according to Department standards. Utilizes proper safety precautions in all work performed; reports problems and emergency situations; recognizes, avoids, and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents, and injuries. Supports the departmental operations with regular and timely attendance. Must have and maintain a cell phone for City use to hold this position. Supports the relationship between the City of Odessa and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned. Minimum Qualifications:
Education, Training and Experience Guidelines :
High school diploma or GED required. One year of electrical equipment maintenance experience required.
Knowledge of:
Procedures, equipment, and tools used for installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment. Basic traffic control and safety procedures and regulations.
Skill in:
Safe and efficient operation and maintenance of vehicles, tools, and equipment. Following standard operating and safety procedures, and technical manuals and procedures. Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers.
License and certification requirements:
A valid Texas State Driver's License is required. Physical demands and working environment : Work is performed indoors, outdoors, and at City facilities; requires moderate physical efforts, and the ability to bend, reach, stoop, and lift objects; may be exposed to safety hazards and dangerous tools and equipment; safety precautions must be followed, including use of safety equipment.
