Overview Join our dynamic team as a Traffic Signal Technician and become a vital part of ensuring safe and efficient transportation systems. In this energetic role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing traffic signal equipment to keep traffic flowing smoothly and safely. Responsibilities Install, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair traffic signal equipment using hand tools and specialized testing devices. Conduct routine maintenance on traffic control devices to ensure optimal operation and safety standards are met. Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to diagnose issues accurately. Use computer hardware and networking knowledge to configure, update, and troubleshoot traffic signal controllers and related systems. Perform service calls in the field, working directly on-site to resolve equipment failures or malfunctions swiftly. Utilize low voltage systems, ohmmeters, and other testing tools to assess electrical circuits and ensure proper functionality. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to schedule repairs, document work performed, and maintain detailed service records. Requirements Proven experience in field service work involving electrical or mechanical systems; prior service technician experience is highly valued. Proficiency with hand tools, schematics, computer hardware, and basic computer networking concepts. Strong mechanical knowledge related to traffic signal equipment or similar electronic control systems. Ability to read electrical schematics accurately and interpret technical diagrams. Experience with equipment repair, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting low voltage electrical systems. Familiarity with using ohmmeters or similar testing devices for electrical diagnostics. Excellent problem-solving skills combined with the ability to work independently in outdoor field conditions.
