Assist the Port Police & Security department in maintaining the physical security of the Port of Virginia (POV) terminals and facilities. Support security and safety patrol, scene control activities, and environmental mishaps under the direction of the Virginia Port Authority Police.What You'll Do:
Responsibilities Answers and processes calls for service regarding incidents and accidents. Obtains and disseminates information, such as the nature of the issue, location, and priority to relevant police personnel. Accesses and dispatches units according to established procedures. Assists officers in patrol activities and investigations with NCIC/VCIN and DMV information. Prepares related paperwork and records. Assists non-emergency calls and customers requesting information while maintaining a courteous and helpful manner. Monitors and operates multiple radios, access control systems, alarms, and surveillance video. Communicates and interacts with federal, state, and municipality officials to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns. Performs data entry of various records into the Computer Aided Dispatch System (CAD). Maintains detailed documentation that contains relevant information regarding all phone calls, radio traffic, and units dispatched. Performs research as needed. Ensures public records and information are managed, maintained, and disposed in accordance to the Library of Virginia retention and disposition schedules and the Virginia Port Authority records management policies and procedures. Identifies and troubleshoots departmental communication equipment. Places requests for service to faulty equipment. Performs other duties as assigned. The Port of Virginia is a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week, 365-day-a-year operation, schedule and location may vary based on the needs of the operation.Who You Are:

Licenses, Certifications, and Credentials Transportation Worker Identification Credential; National Crime Information Center (NCIC) Certification, Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) Certification, and Certified State Dispatcher preferred and may be obtained after hire . Work Experience No experience required . Some related dispatcher experience preferred. Skills Organizational skills, High Customer service skills, High Ability to interact in a professional manner with excellent communication skills, High Proactive problem-solving capabilities, High Proficiency in computer programs with ability to perform data entry, High Analytical skills to evaluate emergent situations, High Ability to manage time effectively and balance multiple initiatives and competing priorities, High Attention to detail,High You Should Know:
