Job Description:
Motorcoach Operator The Express Arrow Interstate Motorcoach Operator is responsible for safely transporting passengers to a designated destination on time. Drivers will be responsible or the vehicle they are assigned to drive, as well as getting the passengers and their luggage to their destination on time and in a safe and comfortable manner, within DOT (Department of Transportation) and FTA (Federal Transit Authority) guidelines. Express Arrow operates 365 days a year, including holidays. Drivers will be assigned a set schedule of four days on and three days off. All schedules run at specific times with pick up and drop stops along a fixed route. Drivers will remain in their scheduled days of work unless modification is needed or schedule changes are required. This will be done with as much notice as possible. On scheduled days off, drivers will be given the opportunity for additional work on charters, when available. Express Arrow motorcoach operators are required to stay overnight at their final destination or relay point and will return the next day. Conducts thorough pre and post trip checks of the motorcoach. Operates all company vehicles safely and courteously on all public roads, highways and required private property, including cities and mountainous regions, in all weather conditions. Provides exceptional customer service and acts in a courteous and professional manner at all times, regardless of the circumstances. Transports passengers in a safe and comfortable manner, while being on time. Assists passengers on and off the motorcoach in a safe, pleasant, and courteous manner. Conducts accurate passenger and luggage counts. Loads, unloads and tags passenger luggage respectfully and safely. Collect paper tickets or scan passenger tickets via ticket scanner. Follows charter itineraries when applicable, in a safe and timely fashion. Maintains order on the motorcoach and informs passengers of safety rules and passenger related laws when necessary. Cleans the motorcoach routinely during charters lasting longer than one day. Works closely with travel guide to establish expectations for a safe and fun trip, to include learning itineraries, routes, stops and destinations, and preparing for any weather or road hazards that may develop. Maintains accurate vehicle inspections, and records of hours worked, and miles driven on electronic logging device, and the ability to also record on paper, if needed. Ability to inspect and operate various wheelchair lifts on designated equipment. Complies with company schedule and ability to work excess of normal working hours as workloads and seasonal activities are encountered. Complies with all company and safety policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.Additional Duties:
Reviews equipment and submits timely reports regarding any issues to the proper person. Fuels the motorcoach as needed. Performs minor mechanical maintenance while away from home terminal or on extended charters or trips. This includes maintaining proper tire pressure and checking and maintaining proper fluid levels. Must be able to follow Diesel Exhaust Fluid Guidelines (DEF). Effectively explains/demonstrates emergency procedures to passengers and safety equipment on the motorcoach. Maintains contact with the dispatcher(s) as appropriate. Any additional duties that may be deemed necessary to accomplish the trip in a safe and satisfactory way. Contributes to process improvement on a regular basis. Attend required training and or meetings as assigned. Two years of CDL driving experience with Class A or B license with passenger experience Must have Passenger and Air Brake endorsements Must be able to drive evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Must be able to pass a DOT physical, pre-employment drug test per DOT regulations, and a background check. Possess and maintain a current Class A or B CDL Ability to load and unload luggage up to 80 pounds Clean driving record and insurable by the Company insurance carrierAdditional Requirements:
Must be a careful, patient, non-aggressive driver with an excellent driving record Must enjoy being around and helping people. Ability to clearly communicate clearly while performing their responsibilities. Must be punctual, dependable, and maintain a professional demeanor and appearance at all times, while providing exceptional customer service skills. Knowledge of proper lifting techniques Knowledge of ADA requirements as it pertains to providing passengers with disabilities transportation, and knowledgeable of the operation of various lifts. High School diploma or equivalent GED is preferred Capable of effectively managing off duty time to get proper rest when sitting for prolonged periods of time in between scheduled stops. Skilled with safely maneuvering a motorcoach in tight places without any incidents or damage Adept defensive driving techniques Ability to be on time for all assignments. Keen awareness to details, which includes accurate driver logs, road hazards, other drivers, and surroundings. Exceptional customer service and able to behave in a courteous and professional manner at all times, regardless of the circumstances Proficient with reading maps and GPS, searching for locations and/or directions on-line when necessary, and correctly following directions Computer literate and able to learn and efficiently use different software programs to include electronic logs, automatic on-board recording devices, and payroll/human resources applications Speak, read and write English fluently Perform basic math functions accurately Excellent communication skills Ability to work calmly under pressure with strict timelines Knowledge and practical use of DOT and FTA regulations pertaining to driving commercial vehicles. Must be a team player, willing to accept and support company processes and systems, and treat coworkers and fellow motorcoach operators with mutual respect.Physical Activities:
