The Track Supervisor, primarily working overnight, is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repairs of the track and wayside infrastructure, directs and organizes daily work crew activities to assure safe and reliable operation of the commuter rail system, and ensures compliance with all State and Federal rules and regulations.Description of Duties:
Issues work assignments to Track Inspectors and Track Maintainers assuring timely and accurate completion of required work Ensuring compliance with safety policies, regulations, and industry standards to minimize the risk of accidents and injuries. Implementing and enforcing safety protocols, conducting safety meetings, and promoting a culture of safety awareness among maintenance crew.Oversees performance of Track Inspectors and Track Maintainers and recommends the transfer, suspension, promotion, or discharge, if necessary Approves leave requests and timesheets of Track Inspectors and Track Maintainers.
Oversees inspections of ROW equipment and structures in accordance with the FRA requirements in Title 49 Part 213 Subpart A- F. Track inspections and repairs are to follow FRA regulations Documents the condition of all inspected items and repairs in accordance with FRA requirements using the Companys Maintenance Management System; ensuring work orders are fully and accurately completedMonitors the use of electronic and mechanical measuring and recording equipment as part of the inspection process Collaborating with other departments and stakeholders to plan and execute track maintenance and construction projects. This involves coordinating with engineering teams, budgeting for materials and equipment, and overseeing the progress of projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget.
Responding to emergencies such as derailments, track obstructions, or severe weather events that affect track operations. Coordinating with emergency response teams, assisting in the resolution of track-related issues, and implementing temporary measures to restore track functionality. Identifying opportunities for process improvements and cost-saving measures in track maintenance operations.
Managing the inventory, maintenance, and repair of track maintenance equipment, tools, and vehicles. Monitoring resources usage and efficiency, optimizing resources allocation, and making recommendations for equipment upgrades or replacements when necessary.
Reviews progress and production charts to ascertain that work is proceeding on schedule Oversees the implementation of speed restrictions as required Oversees the removal of speed restrictions when repairs are complete Coordinate activities of workers engaged in maintaining ROW Must be able to be on call during the weekends, when neededAll other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Minimum Five years of experience inthe inspection and repair of mainline railroad track Two years of experience in a leadership role (lead, foreman, supervisor) in operations and/or maintenance (A combination of education and experience comparable to the above may constitute qualification), preferredMust possess an in-depth knowledge of work safety rules and procedures for working on and near an active railroad right of way. Knowledgeable and practiced in CFR Title 49 Part 214. Must have a proven background working under and meeting strict deadlines and schedules Training in First Responder, Operation Lifesaver, CPR and First Aid are desirable Should have excellent leadership and administrative skills and abilities Demonstrated ability to effectively manage time, resolve crises and make decisions Should possess computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office applications Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and successfully pass a pre-employment background check Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and be willing to comply with the DTO Drug and Alcohol Policy Must have a valid Colorado drivers license Must be able to obtain or have a class A CDLSimilar remote jobs
