Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Automotive Transmission Rebuilder to join our dynamic automotive service team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, disassembling, rebuilding, and testing vehicle transmissions to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Your expertise will help deliver exceptional service to our customers by restoring complex powertrain components with precision and efficiency. This position offers an exciting opportunity for experienced mechanics passionate about automotive repair and transmission systems. Duties Disassemble, inspect, and diagnose transmission units to identify worn or damaged components. Rebuild transmissions using specialized tools, schematics, and technical manuals to meet manufacturer specifications. Test rebuilt transmissions on vehicle or test bench equipment to verify proper operation and performance. Perform related repairs such as replacing seals, gaskets, clutches, bands, and other internal parts. Utilize automotive diagnostics tools and schematics to troubleshoot complex transmission issues effectively. Maintain detailed records of repairs, parts used, and procedures performed for quality control and warranty purposes. Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of transmission rebuilds while adhering to safety standards. Skills Proven experience in dealership or automotive repair environments with a focus on transmissions and powertrain systems. Strong mechanical knowledge of automotive electrical systems, diesel engines, and vehicle maintenance procedures. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and automotive diagnostic software. Ability to read schematics accurately and interpret technical manuals for complex repairs. Familiarity with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), air brake systems, and auto body repair is a plus. Knowledge of GM vehicles, oil changes, wheel alignment, suspension work, tire service, shocks & struts, brake repair, and wheel balancing. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to explain repairs clearly and professionally. Experience with auto estimating software and understanding of automotive electrical systems enhances your effectiveness in this role.
