AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE TECHNOLOGY INSTRUCTOR
Impact Institute, located in Kendallville, Indiana, is seeking an instructor in its Automotive Service Technology program starting in the 2026-27 school year. The successful candidate will have proficient knowledge in Engine Repair, Automatic Transmission/Transaxle, Manual Drive Train & Axles, Suspension & Steering, Brakes, Electrical/Electronic Systems, Heating & Air Conditioning, and Engine Performance. Impact's Automotive Instructor has the responsibility to prepare students to meet entry level knowledge and skill requirements in their specialty area. Our Automotive Technology program is ASE Education Foundation certified and is open to high school juniors and seniors from 12 high schools in Northeast Indiana. The ideal candidate will hold an Automobile & Light Truck Master Technician Certification from ASE or be able to obtain this credential upon hire; a current teaching license or the ability to obtain an Indiana Workplace Specialist license; and a minimum of 5 years work experience as a service technician. In order to obtain a Workplace Specialist License, candidates must be able to provide documentation of either 5,000 clock hours of occupational experience within 5 years or 4,000 clock hours of occupational experience within the last 10 years and documentation of a two year Associate's Degree or higher in the area of teaching focus.
Additionally candidates should possess:
  • A proven track record of success in the career field
  • Experience working with students (preferred)
  • Ability to work individually and as a part of a team
  • Ability to provide guidance in the career pathway
  • Ability to establish relationships with students and industry partners
