Job Description

Operate a welder and cutting torch with the ability to weld flat, cylindrical, or irregular parts. Applicant must pass a bend test prior to job placement. Repair equipment by replacing/adjusting sprockets, bearings, chains, shafts, motors, and gearboxes. Basic electrical skills. Must provide own basic tools. Ability to read blue prints, manuals, drawings, rough sketches and follow verbal instructions to determine layout and sequence of operations Knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machine procedures. Ability to maintain a professional attitude and composure with piler crews, shareholders, and other employees. Housekeeping duties of cleaning shop area and keeping tools and shop equipment clean and in good repair. Ag mechanics are routinely assigned duties such as disassemble, relocate, and reassemble receiving equipment; splice belting; replace motors; gears and bearings; and perform various shop duties as required. Mechanics are sometimes required to work on other Ag Department equipment or projects as assigned by supervisors. This may include grounds upkeep/maintenance and environmental projects that include tile intake monitoring and beet disposal operations. Must pass 6G weld test Applicant must possess a Class A CDL Driver License to operate company vehicles, including a boom truck and trailer prior to the job placement. Must be able to obtain NCCCO mobile crane certification. Ability to work 12-hour shifts during the harvest season or as required. The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs, including climbing ladders and stairways. The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 100 #. Performs other duties as assigned.
